I was looking for a soul food restaurant that was close to a friend's visiting work spot and this was it. My friend opted for the fried chicken dish and I took the spatch-cooked chicken dish. (Pictured) We also enjoyed the skillet cornbread! We had a 1;30 reservation on a Monday. It wasn't super busy that day so we were seated quickly. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals!! Seriously! Everything was well seasoned, flavorful, and more than enough if you can't finish the meal. The server suggested carrot cake for dessert since it was her favorite. I must say that I loved it despite it not having any nuts!!! I would love it even more if they added a nut version of that carrot cake to their menu!!!

This was a superb way to start our Washington, DC trip. The service was exceptional as was the food. We loved the cornbread with butter and honey! We got a wide variety of food, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. The menu is full of variety, so there is definitely something for everyone. We even went back before we left town to get their candy bar sampler box to take home! Even that is made in house with fresh ingredients. I highly recommend you make this one of your meal stops in DC!

This restaurant was truly OUTSTANDING. We had a large group, but they were very accommodating and had a table prepared for us exactly at our reservation time, despite being super busy! We did wait a bit longer than I would have liked for a waiter to take our drink orders, but they were very apologetic and made up for it with a (delicious) free appetizer! The food itself was incredible, and menu had so many great options! While they do appear on the pricier side, the portion sizes are huge. The food is also set apart in its quality, freshness, and locality of ingredients! Members of our group enjoyed cornbread, biscuits, beef dip sandwich, spicy chicken sandwich, fries, salad, and crab Mac and cheese. The fresh homemade soda paired very well with all the food. I was honestly quite impressed! Our server was very attentive and ensured that we were having a fantastic dining experience. He even brought us a complimentary chocolate tasting menu at the end just because the experience was not “perfect.” We all really appreciated this! Overall, I would visit again in a heartbeat! This was truly such an amazing experience.

We had a fantastic experience at Founder Farmer! The food was absolutely delicious - the fried chicken was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, the linguine was flavorful and well-cooked, and the roast pork chops were tender and savory. The fish and chips were a highlight too, with a perfectly beer-battered coating. The beer selection was great, and it paired perfectly with our meal. We also enjoyed the cocktail drinks, particularly the Old Fashioned, which was well-balanced and expertly crafted. What really impressed us, though, was the service. Despite being incredibly busy, the staff were friendly, attentive, and provided top-notch service. They were always on top of things, refilling drinks and checking in on us without being overbearing. It's clear they're a well-oiled machine, even on busy nights. Overall, we'd definitely recommend Founder Farmer for a tasty meal and great drinks in a lively atmosphere.

Really enjoyed the food and service here at Founding Farmers. It was really easy to get to from the metro, too. Our reservations were at 6 but they were able to seat us a little early. Our server was fantastic. Everything ordered was plated beautifully and tasted delicious. We ordered both the biscuits and cornbread, avocado toast, scratch sodas (grapefruit and the seasonal strawberry), Yankee pot roast, chicken and waffles, and the farmhouse platter. We thought everything was cooked and seasoned well. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are visiting DC.

The Founding Fathers is the best place I have eaten in DC. I would recommend making a reservation. We came to the founders farmers to eat dinner and it was amazing! our server, Kim, was so polite and attentive. The atmosphere was very good and the right temperature. The bathrooms are so clean too.The food was so good. We had the Pot Roast, Catfish, Fried Chicken and Fries, and the Steak & Enchiladas with Avocado Salad. This has been my favorite so far and I give it five stars!

Was served by Doug and he was amazing! We celebrated my brother’s birthday here and it truly felt special. Food was delicious, the Arnold Palmer is our favorite non-alcoholic beverage to order here, pancakes were perfectly cooked and buttery, the chicken sausage alone was a 100/10! And my brother loved his chicken & waffles thanks Doug (also thanks for the bourbon tasting!)
